Strict Action Against Drunk Driving

Upholding road safety as paramount, the Damoh Traffic Police have taken stringent action against two drivers operating passenger buses while intoxicated. During an unannounced check on the night of September 29, 2026, Traffic Inspector Mrs. Akanksha Joshi and her team apprehended two drivers who tested positive for alcohol.

Court Imposes Heavy Fine

The reckless behavior of these drivers posed a direct threat to the lives of their passengers. Following breathalyzer tests confirming intoxication for the drivers of buses with registration numbers MP-15-PA-1554 and MP-34-P-1166, the traffic police immediately seized both vehicles and presented the case to the court. The court, recognizing the severity of the offense and prioritizing passenger safety, imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each driver, totaling Rs 20,000.

License Suspension Process Initiated

This judicial decision sends a strong message to drunk drivers about their responsibility towards the safety of others on the road. In a bid to prevent future recurrences, a proposal is being sent to the relevant transport department to suspend the driving licenses of both convicted drivers. Traffic Police Station In-charge Dalbir Singh Marko stated that individuals jeopardizing passenger safety will face severe consequences, and no one will be spared.

The police administration has urged all vehicle operators to drive only when sober, emphasizing it as both a legal and moral obligation. This ongoing campaign by the traffic police aims to make public transport safer and reduce road accidents, with inspections intended to raise driver awareness of their duties.
