Congress Protests 'Purification' Incident in Bhind

In protest against the recent incident in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, where the venue of a public meeting addressed by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge was reportedly 'purified' with Gangajal, Congress workers in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, organized a foot march satyagraha on Friday. The demonstration, jointly organized by the District Congress Committees of Bhind city and rural, saw party workers chanting slogans in support of social harmony, equality, and democratic values.

Congress leaders described the incident as being contrary to the nation's social fabric and the fundamental spirit of the Constitution. The foot march began from in front of the statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi near City Kotwali and culminated at the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in Gol Market. During the march, Congress workers raised their voices against a divisive mindset.

Action Against Social Disharmony

Dharmendra Singh Bhadauria alias Pinky, the President of the District Congress Committee Bhind City, strongly condemned the incident. He stated that India's great tradition has always been to grant equal respect to all religions, castes, and classes. He added that an act like washing a political venue with Gangajal to 'purify' it goes against the spirit of social harmony and questions the fundamental principles of the country's Constitution.

“The insult to our National President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji is not just an insult to one person, but it is an insult to the country's democratic tradition and social harmony,” Bhadauria said. He further elaborated that the Congress party follows the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, consistently striving for brotherhood, equality, and the protection of the Constitution. The mentality of 'purifying' a public meeting venue with Gangajal creates division in society rather than uniting it. The Congress party will continue to democratically protest this act.

Struggle Against Divisive Ideology

Ramasesh Baghel, District President of the District Congress Committee Bhind Rural, highlighted that India's identity lies in its unity in diversity and mutual brotherhood. He emphasized that while political differences are acceptable, such a mindset towards a leader or a public gathering is not. Baghel clarified that the Congress satyagraha is not against any specific individual but against the ideology that promotes discrimination and hatred in society.

He reiterated that the Congress, following Gandhi ji's path of truth and non-violence, will continue its struggle for social harmony and the protection of the Constitution. Office bearers from district and block Congress committees, public representatives, Congress workers, and a large number of supporters participated in the foot march satyagraha. The program concluded with paying tribute at the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and taking a pledge to protect social harmony and the Constitution.

All leaders and workers present resolved to maintain the unity and integrity of the country.
