Congress Stages Protest in Bhind

In protest against the detention of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other party workers in Delhi, Congress staged an aggressive demonstration in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, on October 7, 2026. Led by City President Dharmendra Singh Bhadauria 'Pinky', members from the district Congress Committee's urban and rural units burned an effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Parade Chowk.

During the protest, activists raised slogans against the central government's policies. Congress leaders alleged that their efforts to raise significant questions about the constitution and voters' rights were being suppressed by detaining Rahul Gandhi and attempting to silence democratic voices. The party stated that instead of responding to serious issues like alleged irregularities in voter lists and vote rigging, the government was trying to intimidate the opposition.

Demands for Transparency and Rights Protection

The protestors demanded complete transparency in the electoral process and the protection of voters' rights. Speaking at the gathering, Dharmendra Singh Bhadauria 'Pinky' declared that Congress workers would not tolerate any attempt to silence Rahul Gandhi's voice. He emphasized that the party would continue to raise its voice from the streets to Parliament in defense of democracy and the constitution.

Warning of continued opposition, the protestors deemed the arrest undemocratic. Several prominent Congress officials and workers, including Sandeep Mishra, Mahesh Jatav, Smita Sharma, Arvind Yadav, Bobby Jain, Rahul Kushwah, Shilvar Baba, Monu Jain, Arpit Jain, Rohit Jain, Gaurav Jain, and Pankaj Tripathi, participated in the demonstration. The administration had made tight security arrangements at Parade Chowk to control the situation.
