Congress Protests in Aaron, Cites Threat to Democracy

Following a call from the All India Congress Committee, the Block Congress Committee in Aaron observed a 'Black Day' on Thursday, citing concerns for the safety of Indian democracy. A protest, held in front of the Hanuman Das Temple, saw Congress representatives and workers voice their opposition to the central government's policies.

The demonstration was conducted under the direction of former minister and MLA Jayavardhan Singh. A central demand during the protest was the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress leaders vehemently condemned the police's detention of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other opposition MPs who were marching towards Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 7.

Allegations of Democratic Rights Violation

Workers chanted slogans such as 'Gyanesh Kumar, Resign!' accusing the authorities of violating democratic rights. District Rural In-charge Shivkumar Upring stated that suppressing the voice of the opposition in a democracy is unacceptable and runs counter to democratic values, which the Congress will not tolerate.

Block Congress President Parvati Ahirwar clarified that the party's struggle to protect democratic values would continue both on the streets and in Parliament. She emphasized that their fight is not merely political but for the future of the nation.

Call for Defence of Constitutional Institutions

Former District Congress President Meharban Singh Dhakad stressed that safeguarding constitutional institutions is the duty of every citizen. He described the current situation as alarming and called for collective efforts to ensure these institutions remain independent and impartial.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Block Congress In-charge Ravindra Raghuwanshi. All present Congress officials and workers pledged to remain united in strengthening the country's democratic system and upholding the values of the Constitution. A large number of block officials, workers, and local citizens participated in this protest.
