Congress Stages 'Halla Bol' March in Aaron
Congress workers, led by Raghogarh MLA and former minister Jaivardhan Singh, staged a powerful 'Halla Bol' (protest) march in Aaron on Friday. The demonstration commenced from the local circuit house and culminated at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar statue site, where activists submitted a memorandum of their demands to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manjusha Khatri.
Questions Raised on Election Commission's Impartiality
Addressing the gathering, Jaivardhan Singh levelled serious allegations of large-scale manipulation in the election process and voter lists. He claimed that the INDIA bloc has approached the Supreme Court against these irregularities. According to Singh, the names of thirteen crore voters nationwide have been removed from the lists.
He expressed concern that while the power to add and remove names was previously with the District Magistrate, the officials' IDs have been locked this time, casting doubt on the impartiality of the entire process. The MLA cited the addition of a voter from Raghogarh to Shajapur's list as a significant instance of administrative negligence.
Public Troubled by Power Crisis and Exorbitant Bills
The Congress MLA also criticised the administration for the prevailing power crisis in the region. He stated that even during the auspicious festival of Navratri, Aaron and its rural areas experienced prolonged power outages. Additionally, he targeted discrepancies in electricity bills.
Singh sarcastically noted that a common woman was handed an electricity bill of twenty-two hundred rupees, while news reports suggest that the bill for the Scindia palace in Gwalior is also approximately the same. He quipped that this situation clearly illustrates how the government is economically exploiting the common populace.
Congress workers have warned the administration that if improvements are not made and their demands are not met, the public agitation will be intensified.
