Congress Leaders Detained En Route to Delhi

In a significant development, Congress leaders and workers from Bareilly, en route to Delhi as part of a call from the national leadership, were stopped by police at the Fatehganj Western Toll Plaza. The group, comprising approximately two dozen leaders and heading towards the capital in a convoy of five vehicles, was acting on directives from former National President Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh In-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam, and State President Dr. Aradhana Mishra Mona.

The police team on duty, including Station House Officer Praveen Kumar, Outpost In-charge Adesh Kumar, and Sub-Inspector Mangey Ram, halted the convoy at the toll plaza, refusing permission to proceed. This action immediately drew sharp criticism from the Congress workers, who commenced a vociferous protest, chanting slogans against the government and administration.

Protest Erupts at Toll Plaza

The ensuing demonstration lasted for approximately three hours, during which Congress leaders voiced strong objections to the police's actions, questioning the democratic process. Former District President Ramdev Pandey and former MLA Narendra Pal Singh alleged that the current government was resorting to unethical tactics to suppress public sentiment.

They claimed that the government appeared dwarfed in comparison to the stature of leaders like Rahul Gandhi and was attempting to ruin the country through deceitful maneuvers.

The protesters emphasized that the aware public would not allow the BJP's undemocratic intentions to succeed. Despite the prolonged protest and disruption, the police remained firm, denying passage. Consequently, the Congress leaders were compelled to return without achieving their objective, expressing frustration and terming the incident as an attempt by the government to stifle dissent.

Leaders Return After Standoff

The protest saw the presence of numerous other Congress leaders, including Amit Singh, Devesh Gangwar, Anil, Manoj Gangwar, Hori Lal, Arvind Gangwar, Vedpal Kashyap, Vishal, Dr. Munne Ansari, Vikrant Singh Rawat, Pandit Kunj Bihari Lal, and Advocate Iftikhar Ansari. Following the unsuccessful demonstration, all leaders dispersed and headed to their respective homes.
