Complaint Filed Against Salman Khan in Kota Over ‘Misleading’ Pan Masala Advertisement

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has landed in legal trouble after a complaint was filed against him in the Kota Consumer Court, accusing him and a popular pan masala brand of misleading advertising.

The complaint was lodged by Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate, who has also sought a ban on the advertisement. Following the submission, the Kota Consumer Court issued notices to both the actor and the manufacturing company, seeking a formal response.

Allegations of Misleading Claims

According to the complaint, Rajshree Pan Masala and its brand ambassador Salman Khan have been misleading consumers by promoting the product as containing “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.”

The petitioner argued that such claims are unrealistic and deceptive, stating that saffron, which costs nearly ₹4 lakh per kilogram, could not logically be included in a product sold for ₹5.

He further alleged that such advertisements encourage youth to consume pan masala, which is associated with a rising number of oral and throat cancer cases in India.

Advocate’s Statement

“The company and its brand ambassador claim the product contains saffron, misleading consumers and promoting harmful consumption habits,” said Advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey.
“Salman Khan is a role model for millions. Celebrities in other countries don’t even endorse cold drinks, but here stars promote tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth,” he added.

Court Hearing Scheduled

The Kota Consumer Court has taken cognisance of the complaint and has scheduled a hearing for November 27, 2025.
Responses from Salman Khan and the Rajshree Pan Masala company are awaited.
