Civil Hospital Staff Rally Against Harassment and Transfer

Emergency Meeting Held Over Allegations

An emergency meeting of officials and staff was held at the Civil Hospital, Linjiganj, Farrukhabad, on Sunday to protest the alleged harassment and transfer of Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Rana Pratap. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Rana Pratap himself.

Staff members demanded an immediate stay on his transfer and the swift return of attendance registers taken by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) during an inspection. They stated that on August 27, the CMO conducted a surprise inspection lasting only five to seven minutes, after which he took the attendance registers of regular and contractual employees, which had not been returned by August 30.

Serious Accusations of Harassment and Transfer

During the meeting, employees leveled serious accusations, claiming the CMO had asked Dr. Rana Pratap to collect 10 percent of funds from staff and deposit it in the office. Furthermore, on August 29, the CMO informed Dr. Rana Pratap via WhatsApp of his transfer to the duty of Medical Officer, Rajehpur block. Employees deemed this method of communication improper and not in accordance with established procedures.

The staff argued that Dr. Rana Pratap is a Level-3 category officer with an exemplary work record. They strongly demanded that the transfer order for Dr. Rana Pratap be immediately halted and the taken attendance registers be returned as soon as possible.

Threat of Strike and Proposal for Dialogue

The meeting issued a warning that if their demands are not met promptly, all services except emergency services at the Civil Hospital will be boycotted. A work boycott was also threatened at the medical units of the Urban Health Centre and Urban Primary Health Centres.

Employees indicated that a dialogue with the CMO is scheduled for August 31. If this dialogue proves unsatisfactory and no meaningful resolution is reached, employees and officials will be compelled to resort to agitation. The entire responsibility for this will lie with the Chief Medical Officer of Farrukhabad district.

Present at the meeting were Pramod Kumar Dixit (District President, Joint Struggle Operation Committee S-4 Farrukhabad), Manoj Kumar (District President, Uttar Pradesh Fourth Class State Employees Federation Farrukhabad), and Sanjay Batham (District General Secretary, NHM Union), along with officials, employees, and members from various organizations.
