CEC Concludes Two-Day Review of 2027 UP Election Preparedness

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar concluded his two-day visit to Lucknow, marking a significant step in the preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Emphasis on Engaging Young Voters

During his Lucknow visit, CEC Gyanesh Kumar engaged directly with students and the 'Gen-Z' demographic at his alma mater, Colvin Taluqdars College. The primary objective of this interaction was to boost the participation of young voters in the electoral process, educate them on democratic principles, and encourage voter registration.

Gyanesh Kumar urged the youth to view their role in the democratic system not just as a right but as a significant responsibility. He appealed to the younger generation to not only register themselves but also inspire eligible young individuals in their vicinity to join the process.

Electoral Literacy and ECINET Program

The CEC actively participated in a program related to Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) 2.0 and ECINET held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The program's goal is to familiarize young and new voters with electoral procedures and to promote electoral literacy at the grassroots level.

Officials from the election and education departments, along with teachers and students from various districts of the state, attended the event. The ECI focused on providing detailed information to the youth regarding voter registration, the voting process, and other election-related arrangements.

During the youth interaction, the functioning and security of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), along with other significant aspects of the electoral process, were also explained. The CEC sought to address any doubts regarding the reliability and transparency of EVMs.

Additionally, he cautioned against the spread of misleading information and fake news related to elections. It was underlined that in the era of increasing social media influence, verifying the authenticity of any information before sharing is crucial.

Message to Uttar Pradesh Voters

CEC Gyanesh Kumar described the voters of Uttar Pradesh as aware citizens and emphasized their active participation as indispensable for strengthening the democratic system. He stated that voter trust and participation are paramount for a robust democracy.
