Chhatarpur Launches 'Adopt Cleanliness, Drive Away Disease' Campaign to Prevent Dengue and Malaria

Intensive Campaign Underway in Chhatarpur

The Chhatarpur Municipality Council has initiated a vigorous campaign to curb the spread of dengue, malaria, and other mosquito-borne diseases during the monsoon season. This initiative, named 'Adopt Cleanliness, Drive Away Disease', involves extensive spraying of anti-larval medication across various city wards to control mosquito breeding grounds.

The special operation is being conducted under the guidance of Municipality President Jyoti Chaurasia and Chief Municipal Officer Madhuri Sharma, with Sanitation Nodal Officer Nitesh Chaurasia providing leadership. Dedicated sanitation teams have identified all potential water accumulation spots within the city, including drains, open pits, coolers, flower pots, old tires, and other items where mosquitoes can thrive.

Larvicidal Spraying and Public Awareness

Anti-larval medication is being sprayed in these identified areas to eliminate mosquito larvae. The campaign emphasizes not only spraying but also actively educating citizens about preventing mosquito-borne illnesses. Municipal teams are conducting door-to-door visits to advise residents on regularly emptying stagnant water from rooftops, courtyards, coolers, pots, and water tanks. Detailed information is being provided on precautions like changing cooler water weekly and keeping water storage containers covered.

Citizen Participation Crucial for Disease Prevention

The municipality administration stresses that the prevention of diseases like dengue and malaria cannot be achieved through government efforts alone; active participation from every citizen is vital. Maintaining cleanliness at home and in the surrounding areas, and preventing water stagnation, can significantly curb mosquito-borne diseases. Residents are urged to immediately report any waterlogging, garbage accumulation, or high mosquito populations to the municipality so that prompt action can be taken.

The administration has assured that this campaign will run continuously throughout the monsoon season. Regular anti-larval spraying, fogging, and public awareness programs will be organized with the aim of keeping the city clean and healthy.
