Charges Framed Against Louise Khurshid in Disabled Equipment Distribution Case

Farrukhabad, August 11, 2026: In a case related to the alleged misuse of government grants allocated for the disabled in the Farrukhabad district, the court has framed charges against former MLA Louise Khurshid and Athar Farooqui, the secretary of the Dr. Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. This decision was taken on Monday based on the investigation report from the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and the evidence presented.

The case involves government grants received by the trust for providing equipment to disabled individuals. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, had sanctioned a total of Rs 71.50 lakh to this trust on March 30, 2010. From this amount, Rs 4 lakh were designated for the free distribution of equipment to the disabled in Farrukhabad through organized camps.

Serious Irregularities Uncovered During Investigation

A detailed investigation by the Economic Offence Wing revealed several serious irregularities and instances of forgery during the verification of the grant distribution process and related documents. The report claims that 32 beneficiaries were purportedly benefited by a camp organized in Kaimganj on May 29, 2010.

Investigators found numerous discrepancies in the documents pertaining to the organization of the camp and the distribution of equipment to beneficiaries. Evidence of forged official signatures, the use of fake seals, and the creation of fabricated documents came to light. The EOW found no concrete evidence of any actual camp being held in Kaimganj that matched the claims.

Based on these findings, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Kaimganj Kotwali police station. The judicial proceedings of this case are now progressing in court, with Louise Khurshid and Athar Farooqui as the main accused.
