Child Development Focus During Nutrition Month in Chachaura
In Chachaura, Guna district, a one-day orientation program was organized to strengthen the health, nutrition, and early education of children aged zero to six years at the panchayat level. The event, held in the Janpad Panchayat auditorium, saw participation from the sarpanchs and secretaries of 40 local panchayats.
This initiative was jointly led by the Women and Child Development Department, Piramal Foundation, and the Janpad Panchayat, under the guidance of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal and District Panchayat CEO Abhishek Dubey. The primary focus of the program was on Nutrition Month activities under the theme 'Meri Anganwadi-Meri Zimmedari' (My Anganwadi-My Responsibility).
Strengthening Panchayat Role in Child Nutrition
Detailed discussions were held on the formation and role of the Panchayat Management Unit. Program Manager Smita Dixit, Senior Program Leaders Udham Singh Lodhi and Neeraj Kumar explained to the participants the importance of effective coordination at the panchayat level, processes for problem resolution, and review meetings.
The training sessions emphasized organizing regular monthly meetings in panchayats, identifying local issues, and ensuring 100% Vitamin-A dosage for eligible children. Elected representatives were made aware of developing learning corners in each Anganwadi center, the significance of children's growth monitoring, and events like Mangal Diwas.
Participants were also encouraged to raise awareness about supplementary nutrition and conduct regular parent meetings. Gandhi Fellows Aditya Saini and Mohammad Hafiz Khan will establish field-level coordination for the implementation of the Neenv project.
Call for Active Participation in Nutrition Month
The administration has appealed to all sarpanchs and secretaries to actively participate in the Nutrition Month activities, which will run from September 9 to October 8. On this occasion, CEO of Janpad Panchayat Chachaura, Sanjeev Kumar Srivastava, and Project Officer Shravan Kumar Nagle, along with a large number of panchayat representatives, were present.
The administration has clarified that regular review of children's health indicators will now be among the top priorities for panchayats, aiming to bring about positive change at the grassroots level and improve the functionality of Anganwadi centers.
