Nursing College Faces CBI Probe Demand Over Alleged Irregularities

A controversy has erupted in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh concerning the recognition of a new nursing college. The National Student Union of India (NSUI) has demanded a high-level investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Ayushman College of Nursing and Paramedical College in Bhadaura, Kusmi tehsil.

The organization alleges that the college was granted recognition for 120 seats while its building was still under construction, claiming violations of regulations and potential political interference. Ravi Parmar, State Vice President of NSUI, stated that the college, allegedly run by individuals associated with BJP MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra's son, Anup Mishra, and daughter-in-law, Beena Mishra, received recognition under circumstances where construction was incomplete.

Allegations of MP Family's Involvement in College Operations

NSUI claims that Anup Mishra, Beena Mishra, Vaishnavi Mishra, Sharad Pathak, Rajesh Singh Chauhan, Ramjiawan Patel, and Sanjay Dwivedi from Rewa are operating the college through the Sidhi Challenge Cup Tournament Sports Committee Sidhi. Parmar questioned whether the MP's son and his associates were granted nursing college recognition by disregarding rules. He accused the Registrar of the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council and other officials of acting without adhering to regulations.

The NSUI has urged the CBI to conduct an impartial inquiry into the college's ownership, operations, management, financial transactions, submitted documents for recognition, and the roles of the individuals involved. They insist that an investigation is crucial if rules were manipulated through political or administrative influence.

Concerns Over Recognition for Under-Construction Building

According to the NSUI's complaint, the college applied for recognition for 60 B.Sc. Nursing and 60 GNM Nursing seats, totaling 120. Ravi Parmar alleges that the college building was entirely under construction during the recognition process and remains so currently. Despite this, the inspection team reportedly found the college suitable for recognition.

NSUI questioned the basis on which the inspection team deemed the college eligible, especially if the building, laboratories, and other essential resources did not meet the prescribed standards at the time of inspection. This dispute arises amidst ongoing serious questions surrounding the recognition of nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh, with thousands of nursing students' futures already in limbo due to past scandals.

Doubts Cast on Faculty Experience Certificates

NSUI has also branded the faculty experience certificates submitted by the college as potentially fake, alleging their authenticity is doubtful. They demand that the CBI directly verify each certificate with the respective hospital, institution, or employer. If any certificate is found to be fraudulent, the roles of all responsible individuals involved in obtaining recognition based on it should be investigated.

The organization emphasizes that students invest significant sums in nursing education. If they are admitted to institutions lacking essential facilities like buildings, laboratories, and clinical training, it will severely impact their future. Students could face considerable hardship if recognition, exams, degrees, or registrations later become contentious.

Demand for Investigation into Officials' Roles

NSUI District President Akshay Tomar stressed that the investigation should extend beyond the college operators. He demanded an inquiry into the roles of the Registrar of the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council, members of the inspection team involved in the recognition process, and other relevant officials.

The scope of the investigation should also include the actual facilities available at the college during the inspection and what was recorded in the inspection report. NSUI has specifically requested the CBI, Chief Minister, and departmental officials to verify all college recognition documents, conduct an independent physical verification of buildings and laboratories, examine all faculty experience certificates, investigate the roles of the inspection team and related officials, and probe any political or administrative influence in the recognition process.

The organization also demands FIRs and legal action against all individuals involved if fake documents or forgery are confirmed. Furthermore, they stress the importance of protecting students' interests and their academic futures during the investigation. NSUI asserts that any compromise with students' futures in the name of nursing education will not be tolerated, and severe legal action must be taken against those found guilty.
