Car Collides with Truck Near Guna, Three Youths Critically Injured
A high-speed collision between a car and a truck on the Guna highway left three young men critically injured.

Major Road Accident Near Guna
A severe road accident occurred in the Kolaras police station area of Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. A speeding car, returning from a picnic at Bhadaiya Kund towards Guna, collided head-on with an oncoming truck near the under-construction overbridge at Poorankhedi.
The tremendous impact shattered the car, leaving three occupants critically injured. Three other youths in the car sustained minor injuries. Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents and highway ambulance services promptly transported the injured to Kolaras Community Health Centre.
The critically injured youths have been identified as Shivam Ojha (18 years), Mannu (25 years), and Nitin (26 years), all residents of Guna. They are currently undergoing treatment.
Construction Overpass Cited as Cause
Initial investigations suggest that the primary cause of the accident was the one-way traffic implemented due to the ongoing construction of the overbridge, coupled with excessive vehicle speed.
Traffic was being diverted through a single lane for the overpass construction. It is believed the car driver lost control when the truck appeared suddenly from the opposite direction, resulting in the direct collision. One-way traffic, especially at night, often proves challenging for drivers, particularly on unfamiliar roads or when fatigued.
The area around under-construction overpasses is inherently narrow and hazardous. High-speed vehicles exacerbate these risks. Eyewitnesses reported the collision was so severe that the front of the car was completely mangled, causing serious injuries to its occupants.
Rescue and Medical Response
Local residents immediately came to the aid of the injured, alerting the police and ambulance services. Highway ambulance services provided initial first aid and rushed the victims to Kolaras Community Health Centre.
Critically injured Shivam Ojha, Mannu, and Nitin have been admitted to the ICU, where a team of doctors is closely monitoring their condition. The other youths who sustained minor injuries were discharged after receiving first aid.
Police Investigation and Future Safety
The Kolaras police have registered a case related to the accident and have initiated a detailed investigation. This probe includes examining the vehicle's speed, the truck driver's negligence, and safety arrangements at the overpass construction site.
Officials stated that action may be taken against the concerned contractor if any deficiencies are found in traffic management during the construction period. Such accidents highlight flaws in traffic management during national highway construction projects.
Experts emphasize the strict enforcement of speed limits in these sensitive zones and the need for clear, accessible signage for increased caution at night. Additionally, augmenting police patrols around the clock during one-way traffic periods could help prevent similar incidents. The police aim to ensure such accidents do not recur, prioritizing traveler safety.
