Cabinet Hikes Ladli Behna Scheme Amount, Clears Key Projects

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved an increase in the monthly amount given under the Ladli Behna Scheme from ₹1,250 to ₹1,500, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Bhai Dooj.

With over 1.26 crore beneficiaries, women will start receiving the enhanced amount from November itself. A special programme will be held in Seoni on November 12, where the Chief Minister will transfer the revised sum to beneficiaries’ accounts.

The ₹250 hike per beneficiary will require an additional ₹1,793.75 crore, taking the total estimated expenditure for FY 2025–26 to ₹20,450.99 crore.

Other Cabinet Decisions

  • Ekatma Dham Project, Omkareshwar: The revised cost of ₹2,424.37 crore has been approved for constructing the Acharya Shankar Museum ‘Advait Lok’.

  • Solar Rooftop Initiative: All government buildings across districts will get solar rooftop plants under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana via the RESCO model.

    • Departments won’t make upfront investments; instead, they’ll pay per unit of power consumed.

    • Plants will operate for 25 years, with installations planned at 211 sites in Bhopal (15,695 kW) and 14 sites in Burhanpur (348 kW), among others.

    • Additional setups are planned for forest and off-grid areas under the capex model.
