Administrative Action Underway at Saharanpur Collectorate

An administrative action to remove a mosque located within the Saharanpur Collectorate premises began around 4 AM on Saturday. The operation, involving six bulldozers, has already demolished a portion of the mosque, with the remaining structure currently being dismantled.

To manage the situation, all five entrance gates to the Collectorate complex have been sealed, and no external individuals are permitted entry. A heavy contingent of police forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), has been deployed, establishing a tight security cordon in the area.

Judicial Order Precedes Demolition

This demolition action was initiated following a decision by the District Judge's court on September 4th. The court had dismissed an appeal filed by the mosque's representatives, upholding a previous order that declared the relevant land as government property.

This judicial confirmation provided the administration with the legal basis to proceed with the mosque's removal. The roots of this demolition extend beyond the immediate morning's events, tracing back to earlier legal proceedings. In July, the City Magistrate's court had ordered the removal of illegal construction on the Collectorate land.

Compensation and Legal Basis

That prior order not only mandated the demolition of the construction but also stipulated a compensation amount exceeding ₹6.41 crore. This compensation was determined based on an assessment of the financial damages incurred by the government due to the illegal construction.

SP MP Iкра Hassan Placed Under House Arrest

Amidst the ongoing administrative action, reports indicate that Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Iкра Hassan from Kairana has been placed under house arrest at her residence before she could reach Saharanpur. This measure appears to be a preventive step aimed at averting any potential protests or interference.

Security arrangements in and around the Collectorate have been significantly intensified. The local administration has taken stringent measures to maintain control and ensure that external elements do not have an opportunity to instigate unrest. The current situation sees six bulldozers actively engaged in removing the remaining parts of the mosque, with police and administrative officials closely monitoring the site under a secure perimeter. The entire process has adhered to judicial protocols, with the District Judge's court affirming the claim over the government land.
