BJP National President Nitin Nabin Announces New National Team

New Delhi | August 17, 2026

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin announced his new national team on Monday, entrusting significant responsibilities to both seasoned party leaders and new faces. Key among the changes are the return of former Union Minister Smriti Irani to the organization, Rajasthan's former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and senior strategist Ram Madhav being appointed as National Vice Presidents, and Union Minister Piyush Goyal taking charge as National Treasurer.

The formation of this new team clearly reflects an effort to balance organizational experience, regional representation, and the demands of upcoming elections. This team will face the significant challenge of further strengthening the BJP's national organization and accelerating election preparations across various states.

Prominent Leaders Appointed as 13 National Vice Presidents

The BJP's new national executive has appointed 13 National Vice Presidents. These include former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, veteran BJP leader Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda from Odisha, D. Purandeshwari from Andhra Pradesh, Rekha Verma from Uttar Pradesh, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi from Gujarat, Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar from Maharashtra, Manpreet Singh Badal from Punjab, Lal Singh Arya from Madhya Pradesh, M. Nagaraja from Karnataka, Prof. Tariq Mansoor from Uttar Pradesh, and Madhuchandra Kar from West Bengal.

Vasundhara Raje Scindia possesses deep experience in Rajasthan's politics and administration, while Ram Madhav has handled numerous crucial organizational matters at the national level. Leaders like Baijayant Jay Panda and Tirath Singh Rawat have also been included based on their regional experience. By ensuring representation from leaders across various states, the BJP has attempted to maintain regional balance.

Smriti Irani Returns as One of Eight National General Secretaries

Eight National General Secretaries have been appointed to the party's new team, including Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi, and Sanjay Bhatia. Smriti Irani's return, following her extensive tenure as a Union Minister, is particularly noteworthy. After contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi and serving as a Union Minister, she has now been assigned a key role within the party organization.

Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal are recognized for their expertise in organizational strategy and election management. Sunil Bansal significantly contributed to strengthening the party organization at the booth level in Uttar Pradesh. Biplab Kumar Deb is a former Chief Minister of Tripura, while Satish Poonia has been a prominent face of the organization in Rajasthan.

Continuity in Organization: B.L. Santosh Remains General Secretary (Organization)

The BJP has maintained continuity in its top organizational leadership. B.L. Santosh will continue in his role as National General Secretary (Organization). Alongside him, Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been assigned the responsibility of National Joint General Secretary (Organization).

The position of Organization General Secretary is extremely crucial within the BJP, playing a central role in the party's organizational structure, coordination among workers, and election preparedness. The continuation of B.L. Santosh is expected to bring stability to the organization.

New Team of 16 National Secretaries Announced

The names of 16 National Secretaries have also been announced for the new national team. These include Kavita Patidar, K. Surendran, Bhola Singh, Pradeep Verma, Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, Sandip Pathak, Phangnon Konyak, Sangeeta Yadav, Anil Antony, Dr. M. Venkatesan, Manoj Tigga, Siddharth Shambhu, Dr. Swadesh Singh, Mriganka Deb Barman, Rohan Gupta, and Jai Prakash. Representation from various regions and social groups has been ensured in this list.

By giving the responsibility of National Secretary to Rohan Gupta, who joined the BJP from the Congress, the party has placed him in a significant national role.

Piyush Goyal Appointed National Treasurer

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the new National Treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Rajesh Mangal from Rajasthan has been made the National Joint Treasurer. Piyush Goyal has experience in key ministries such as Finance, Commerce, and Industry in the central government, and his financial and administrative acumen can prove valuable in the party's financial management.

New Direction for Media and Social Media Wings

In the party's media arrangements, Anil Baluni will continue as Media Convener. Ashish Usha Agrawal, Pradeep Bhandari, and Siddharth Yadav have been appointed as Co-Conveners. The charge of social media has been given to Deepak Mahasake, who will be assisted by Co-Conveners Preeti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt, and Arun Yadav.

Social media and digital communication have become a crucial part of electoral politics, and by giving special importance to this area, the party is moving towards further strengthening its communication strategy.

Leadership for Seven Fronts Also Decided

The BJP has also appointed new presidents for its seven major fronts. Dr. Hemang Joshi will head the Youth Front, Rup Kumari Choudhary the Mahila Morcha (Women's Front), Amarpal Maurya the OBC Morcha, Bansilal Gurjar the Kisan Morcha (Farmers' Front), Shivansh Kumar Ram the Scheduled Caste Morcha, Mannalal Rawat the Scheduled Tribe Morcha, and Kunwar Basit Ali the Minority Morcha.

Through these fronts, the party will more effectively advance its organizational activities among various social sections.

New Team Focuses on Upcoming Elections

The formation of this new national team comes at a time when the party faces assembly elections in several states and preparations for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The new team's priorities will include expanding the organization, activating workers at the booth level, establishing better coordination with states, and effectively implementing electoral strategies.

By including young faces alongside experienced leaders, the party has attempted to achieve generational balance. Now, Nitin Nabin faces the significant challenge of energizing this team at the ground level and extending the national leadership's strategy down to the booth level.
