Tuition-Blind Admissions at BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani is pioneering a new approach to admissions. The institute will now offer tuition-free education to its top BITSAT performers.

This initiative aims to remove financial barriers for deserving students. This is not a post-admission scholarship but part of the admission offer.

Eligibility and Scholarship Details

The tuition-blind admission applies to the top 500 BITSAT rankers. Candidates must have a family income of up to Rs 20 lakh per year.

Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at their respective campuses to retain the scholarship. The scholarship covers the full tuition fee for all four years.

BITSAT Application Details

BITSAT is the entrance exam for undergraduate programs at BITS Pilani. It includes BE, B.Pharm, and BSc (Integrated) programs.

The exam is conducted at BITS Pilani's campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.

Important Dates and Exam Structure

The BITSAT application window is currently open. It began on December 15.

The application deadline for session one is March 16. Session two applications will be accepted from April 20, 2026, to May 2, 2026.

Interested students can apply online at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in.

The exam covers Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning. It consists of 130 core questions and 12 optional bonus questions.

"We have invested heavily in scholarships for years, but tuition blind admissions for our top 500 BITSAT rankers is a defining step. If you have the talent, money should not come in the way. We will keep expanding this year on year until we can make BITS fully tuition blind for every admission."

Marking Scheme and Negative Marking

Each correct answer earns +3 marks. Incorrect answers incur a deduction of 1 mark.

Unattempted questions receive 0 marks. The presence of negative marking demands a strategic approach.

Endowment Fund Success

BITS Pilani has secured over $34 million in pledges and receipts for its endowment fund. A $4 million donation from a US-based alumnus couple is the largest individual contribution to date.

The institute aims to establish a $100 million Endowment Fund.

What to Watch Next

BITS Pilani plans to expand the tuition-blind admissions program in the coming years. Future developments will focus on increasing the number of students who can benefit from this initiative and working towards becoming fully tuition blind for every admission.
