High Court to Hear Over 50 Petitions in Bhopal Sealing Case
The Cliff News | Jabalpur | September 7, 2026 The Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court will hear over 50 significant cases today related to sealing actions in Bhopal. The Supreme Court had previously directed the High Court to expedite and resolve these matters.
Initially slated for hearing on September 2, all related petitions have now been clubbed and listed for today. This hearing is particularly crucial as it pertains to the sealing of various properties in Bhopal. Merchants have filed petitions seeking a stay on the sealing actions and a halt to the property sealing process. The court may also deliver its verdict on these petitions today.
Background of Sealing Cases and Supreme Court Intervention
This case gained prominence when the Supreme Court, on August 5, dissolved a committee formed by the Madhya Pradesh government during a hearing concerning sealing. The Supreme Court also instructed the Jabalpur High Court to expeditiously hear all pending sealing-related cases and deliver fair judgments.
This intervention by the Supreme Court aimed to ensure a swift and systematic resolution of sealing-related matters. A significant judicial shift has occurred in the hearing of these cases. Previously, all stay orders were issued by Justice Maninder Bhattia. Now, all cases will be heard by Justice Vishal Mishra's court. This change could impact the case's momentum and judicial perspective.
Meanwhile, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation is also prepared to present its arguments. The corporation will clarify the justification and procedure of its sealing actions before the court.
