Key Gang Member Apprehended in Jaipur

Jaipur police have arrested a main member of a gang notorious for carrying out multi-crore rupee robberies in Bhopal by feeding drugged meat to pet dogs. The accused, Shahrukh Qureshi, was apprehended by the Jhotwara police station in Jaipur with an illegal country-made pistol while he was allegedly planning another major robbery in the city.

This gang meticulously conducted reconnaissance of houses before executing theft or robbery attempts. If a house had pet dogs, one member of the gang would use pieces of meat, laced with sedatives, to keep the dogs quiet and prevent them from barking.

Bhopal Heist Details Emerge

Utilizing this modus operandi, the accused Shahrukh Qureshi, along with his associates, committed a multi-crore rupee robbery at a lawyer's house in a residential area of Bhopal on December 26, 2025, under armed threat. Following this major incident, he had been evading the Bhopal police.

Arrest Following Informant Tip

To escape the Bhopal police, Shahrukh Qureshi was living under a false name in a rented room in Jaipur's Jhotwara area. Based on precise information received from an informant, Jaipur police successfully arrested the accused during a blockade operation on July 21, 2026. Police also seized an illegal country-made pistol from the accused and have registered a case against him under the Arms Act.

Search for Other Absconding Members Continues

The main mastermind of this sensational robbery case, Wajid Ali alias Vajju, and nine other members of the gang are still at large. Police are actively conducting raids in search of them and expect to uncover other incidents based on their interrogation.
