The Bhopal Railway Division’s Commercial Department has collected ₹23.29 crore in fines from 3,63,279 passengers caught travelling without valid tickets or carrying unbooked luggage between April and October this financial year.
Officials said the cases include 1,86,907 passengers without tickets, 1,74,700 with improper tickets, and 1,674 cases of unbooked luggage.
In October alone, a special checking drive detected 49,032 violations, earning the division ₹3 crore in fines.
Railway authorities stated that these continuous drives aim to curb ticketless travel, ensure rule compliance, and boost revenue. Similar campaigns will continue in the coming months to maintain discipline and promote responsible travel among passengers.
