Bhopal Police Nab Habitual Burglar, Recover Jewellery and Cash Worth ₹2 Lakh

Arrest Made After Technical Surveillance

The Shahjahanabad police in Bhopal have arrested a 36-year-old habitual burglar, recovering gold and silver jewellery and cash worth around ₹2 lakh, officials confirmed on Monday.

The breakthrough came after a burglary complaint was filed on September 28 by Karan Suryavanshi, a resident of Mother India Colony, who reported that his house had been broken into while he was away. Upon returning early in the morning, Suryavanshi found the latch of the main gate and cupboard locks broken, with valuables missing.

How the Accused Was Caught

Station House Officer (SHO) Umesh Pal Singh Chauhan said the team used technical surveillance and local intelligence to track down the suspect. Based on leads from informants, police arrested Asif Khan alias Kala (36), son of Habib, residing near Bilal Mosque in Mother India Colony.

During interrogation, Khan admitted to committing two separate burglaries in the same area. Acting on his statement, the police recovered stolen ornaments and cash, which were linked to two ongoing cases registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Repeat Offender with Criminal Past

According to SHO Chauhan, Asif Khan is a repeat offender with a history of criminal activities, including cases of assault and issuing death threats. Police officials believe he may be involved in several other unsolved burglary cases in the Shahjahanabad area.

“The accused has been booked under multiple sections of the BNS, and efforts are underway to trace other incidents connected to him,” Chauhan said, adding that further recoveries could be made as the investigation progresses.
