Bhopal Municipal Corporation has intensified actions against rent defaulters, sealing three shops for non-payment of dues.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Rent Defaulters
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has adopted a stringent approach to revenue recovery, escalating actions against defaulters across various city markets. In line with this strategy, personnel from Zone No. 05 carried out sealing operations on Tuesday against three shopkeepers who had failed to pay rent for corporation-owned properties.
Acting on the directives of Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Sanskruti Jain, the revenue department has been actively pursuing the recovery of property tax, water consumer charges, lease rent, and rental amounts for some time. This specific action was conducted on shops located in Ward No. 23 of Zone No. 05.
Rent Arrears Collection Drive
Under the supervision of Zonal Officer Mr. Mukesh Kemia, ward in-charge and other staff implemented the sealing measures. Mr. Qamar Aziz, a tenant of shop number 25 in Tilak Market, had his shop sealed due to an outstanding rent of ₹86,850. Additionally, shops belonging to Mr. Jagannath (shop number 78 B in A.B. Market) and Mr. Hamid Khan (shop number 61 A) were also sealed for accumulated rent dues of ₹1,03,895 and ₹41,727 respectively.
The Municipal Corporation's rigorous campaign to effectively collect taxes and charges across various revenue streams, including property tax, water consumer charges, and lease rent, continues. Strict actions are also being taken against those who have not renewed their leases or have failed to pay rental amounts. These recent sealing operations are part of this ongoing effort against three shopkeepers who failed to pay their rent on time.
Maintaining Financial Health and Ensuring Compliance
The primary objective behind these enforcement actions is to maintain the corporation's financial health and ensure that all defaulters take their financial obligations seriously and make timely payments. The corporation has made it clear that such actions will persist, warning other defaulters to clear their arrears immediately.
Failure to comply will result in similar stringent actions, including the sealing of their commercial properties. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation also appeals to its citizens to pay their taxes and charges promptly to prevent any disruption in the city's development projects. Revenue recovery remains a critical priority for the corporation.
These direct enforcement measures not only raise awareness among defaulters but also ensure that the expected funds reach the corporation's treasury on time. This revenue is crucial for public welfare schemes and the overall development of the city.
