Municipal Corporation Cracks Down on Polluters

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation is actively conducting campaigns to maintain cleanliness within its jurisdiction and keep public spaces hygienic. In line with this initiative, corporation staff took strict action on Wednesday against dairy operators and others found littering along the riverbanks in the Damkheda area.

A total of ₹20,500 in spot fines was collected across 6 cases during this operation. Acting on clear directives from Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Sanskriti Jain, the health department team inspected various areas.

Fines Levied for Environmental Violations

In Ward No. 80 of Zone No. 18, two dairy operators were fined ₹5,000 each for allegedly spreading filth along the riverbank. This penalty was specifically imposed for the act of littering, which is detrimental to public health and the environment.

Additionally, a dairy operator in Ward No. 82 was fined ₹3,000. This action underscores the corporation's commitment to not compromising on sanitation standards anywhere in the city, regardless of the scale of the violation.

Broader Enforcement Against Littering

The crackdown was not confined to the riverbanks alone. Corporation staff also ran campaigns in other parts of the city against individuals spreading garbage, using single-use plastics and polythene, and dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste on roads.

A total of ₹7,500 in spot fines was collected in three other cases for these various violations. Fines were imposed on individuals or entities that polluted public spaces, impacting the city's aesthetics, potentially obstructing drainage systems, and increasing the risk of disease transmission.

Commitment to a Cleaner City

In total, the Municipal Corporation collected ₹20,500 as fines across 6 cases. This operation highlights the corporation's dedication to maintaining cleanliness and prioritizing public health.

The Municipal Commissioner emphasized that such actions will continue in the future to keep the city clean and disease-free. Citizens are also expected to cooperate with the corporation's efforts and refrain from littering in public places.

The Municipal Corporation's health department is continuously visiting various parts of the city to ensure all citizens adhere to sanitation rules. Enforcement of bans on single-use plastic and polythene is being strictly implemented due to the severe environmental threat they pose.

Furthermore, directives have been issued to dispose of construction and demolition waste only at designated sites, and dumping on roads will not be tolerated. Corporation staff are actively patrolling to monitor all such violations and taking immediate action when infringements are found.
