Bhopal Man Booked for Threatening Wife with Gun, Pronouncing Divorce During Argument

Domestic Dispute Turns Violent

The Shahjahanabad police in Bhopal have registered a case against a 28-year-old woman’s husband for allegedly threatening her with a gun and pronouncing divorce during a heated argument at her parents’ residence on Monday afternoon.

According to police, the complainant married Mohammad Danish, a furniture businessman, in 2016–17. The couple has two children. A week ago, following repeated domestic disputes and what the woman described as mental harassment, she left her matrimonial home and moved to her parents’ house along with the children.

Argument Escalated to Threat with Gun

On Monday, Danish allegedly reached his wife’s parental home carrying his licensed firearm. He reportedly demanded that she return with him immediately. When she refused, citing ongoing quarrels and emotional distress, a verbal altercation ensued.

During the confrontation, Danish allegedly pointed the gun at his wife, threatening her before pronouncing ‘divorce’. Shocked family members intervened, and the woman later approached the police to file a formal complaint.

Case Registered, Investigation Underway

Shahjahanabad Station House Officer (SHO) said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation and misuse of a licensed weapon. The firearm has been seized, and further investigation is ongoing.

Police are also verifying the validity of the weapon’s licence and the statements of eyewitnesses present during the incident. The accused has been summoned for questioning.
