Corporation Cracks Down on Encroachment and Violations

Bhopal Municipal Corporation took strict action on Thursday to ensure cleanliness and adherence to solid waste management rules. Seven businessmen operating illegally by placing construction materials on main roads were fined a total of Rs 33,000. Additionally, spot fines amounting to Rs 7,600 were levied in 40 cases for littering, plastic use, and other violations across different areas.

In total, the corporation's staff recovered Rs 40,600 from 47 cases. This action was carried out under the direction of Corporation Commissioner Mrs. Sanskriti Jain, with the objective of maintaining order and controlling pollution in the city.

Enforcement on Main Arteries

During inspections on the 80 Feet Road main artery in Ward Nos. 73 and 76 by the staff of Zone No. 16, seven businessmen were found conducting business by placing construction materials. Following due process, they were issued spot fines totaling Rs 33,000.

Action Against Littering and Plastic Use

The corporation's team also conducted a campaign against individuals littering public places, spreading construction and demolition (C&D) waste, spitting, open defecation, and using single-use plastic/polythene. In Zone No. 13, 14 cases resulted in Rs 1,400 in spot fines. Zone No. 14 saw 13 cases with Rs 4,900 collected, and Zone No. 15 had 13 cases yielding Rs 1,300.

This action has been taken in compliance with the guidelines of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. The corporation's aim is to maintain the city's cleanliness and beauty while continuing to take action against rule violators.
