The Cliff News | October 10, 2026 – Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Virendra Chakravarty made an unscheduled visit to the under-construction Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Bhind city. During the inspection, he conducted a thorough review of the construction quality and the project's timeline.
The CMO issued clear instructions to expedite construction and stressed that there should be no compromise on quality. During the inspection, officials assessed technical aspects related to treatment units, pipeline installation, and machinery setup. CMO Chakravarty also held detailed discussions with relevant experts regarding the plant's daily water purification capacity and future requirements.
Contractor Arvind Sharma was sternly warned against any negligence in the construction work. The focus on quality and deadlines was paramount. CMO Virendra Chakravarty emphasized that any compromise on the quality of development works would not be tolerated. He directed the Public Works Branch In-charge, Pankaj Katare, to regularly monitor the construction and submit progress reports promptly.

The administration's primary objective is to ensure that the sewage treatment plant project is completed within the stipulated timeframe, thereby improving the city's drainage system.

The core aim of this inspection was to ensure that the construction of the sewage treatment plant is capable of meeting the demands of the city's growing population and future water purification needs.
The CMO also sought information from officials regarding the potential for plant capacity expansion, to prevent any future technical deficiencies or capacity shortages. He stated that this project is extremely important for making the city clean and healthy, and any negligence in its construction will be taken very seriously.
The CMO further clarified that the optimal utilization of funds allocated for this project must be ensured, and transparency should be maintained at every level. He instructed the contractor to ensure adequate safety measures for his workers and to maintain cleanliness at the worksite. The need to complete the project on a priority basis to provide early relief to local citizens from sewage problems was also highlighted.
The Bhind Municipal Council is treating this project as a priority and is making every possible effort for its successful completion.
