District Collector Hears 110 Citizen Grievances
In a weekly public grievance hearing held at the Collectorate meeting hall in the district headquarters on Tuesday, Collector Kirodi Lal Meena prioritized listening to the concerns of 110 citizens from various rural and urban areas of the district. A total of 110 applications were received during the hearing, detailing difficulties and complaints related to different government departments.
Present at the event were District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Veer Singh Chauhan and Additional Collector Rajan B Nadia. Administrative officials patiently listened to all the grievances and issued directives to the relevant departments for their resolution.
Key Issues Addressed and Directives Issued
The public hearing primarily addressed issues such as health services, financial assistance for serious illnesses, land demarcation, illegal encroachments, name transfers, corrections in electricity bills, and the repair of non-functional hand pumps. Additionally, applications related to old-age, disability, and widow pensions, along with ration cards and benefits from public welfare schemes, were also received.
Emphasis on Quality and Timely Resolution
Collector Kirodi Lal Meena issued strict instructions to all concerned departmental officials to ensure the qualitative resolution of received applications within the stipulated time frame. He particularly emphasized that applicants should be informed of the action taken in each case to prevent them from making unnecessary visits to offices.
Directives were issued to ensure that public problems are resolved transparently and effectively, thereby maintaining public trust in the government machinery. The administration's primary objective through these public hearings is to resolve the common public's issues on the spot. The Collector clearly instructed officials that any negligence in matters of public interest will not be tolerated and that citizens' complaints must be resolved on a priority basis.
He stated that public hearings are not merely a formality but a crucial medium for directly engaging with citizens and understanding their real-world problems.
Focus on Health, Revenue, and Electricity Complaints
During the hearing, complaints related to health services included issues like the availability of medicines, negligence by health workers, and sanitation in government hospitals. Similarly, matters concerning the revenue department involved grievances related to corrections in land documents, delays in name transfers, and illegal encroachments. Problems related to the electricity department included incorrect electricity bills, power outages, and complaints about faulty transformers.
Taking cognizance of all these complaints, the Collector directed the relevant officials to take immediate action. He also instructed them to conduct a thorough review of the implementation of these schemes to ensure that all eligible individuals receive their rightful benefits on time.
Review of Public Welfare Scheme Implementation
Complaints were also received during the public hearing regarding beneficiaries of old-age, disability, and widow pension schemes not receiving benefits or facing irregularities in payments. Furthermore, applications were received from eligible beneficiaries who had not received ration cards or were denied benefits from other public welfare schemes like the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. The Collector instructed the concerned officials to conduct a thorough review of the implementation of these schemes and ensure that all eligible individuals receive their entitlements in a timely manner.
Delivering the benefits of government schemes to the last person is the administration's highest priority.
