Bhind Municipality's New CMO Assumes Charge, Signals Strict Action on Illegal Construction
Bhind Municipality's new Chief Municipal Officer, Virendra Chakravarti, assumed office and vowed to tackle illegal constructions and boost revenue collection.

New CMO Assumes Office, Promises Efficient Governance
Virendra Chakravarti officially took charge as the new Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of the Bhind Municipality Council on Monday. Immediately after assuming responsibilities, he conducted a thorough inspection of the municipal office to understand the functioning of various departments.
Following the inspection, a crucial meeting was held with municipal staff and ward in-charges. The discussion focused on the city's current systems and citizen-related issues. CMO Chakravarti issued clear directives to all officials and staff, emphasizing that no citizen visiting the municipality should face any unnecessary difficulties regarding their work.
He stressed that resolving the problems of the common public should be the municipality's utmost priority. Instructions were also issued to take all received complaints very seriously and ensure their prompt resolution according to regulations.
Focus on Revenue Collection and Financial Strengthening
The newly appointed CMO highlighted the importance of significantly increasing revenue collection to strengthen the municipality's financial condition. He expects ward in-charges and relevant staff to ensure revenue recovery aligns with predetermined targets.
CMO Chakravarti clarified that any negligence in revenue collection could hinder the municipality's development plans, and therefore, indifference at any level in this critical task will not be tolerated. He instructed relevant officials to prepare a systematic list of defaulters and initiate recovery actions as per rules.
Emphasis was also placed on making citizens aware of the services provided by the municipality and the importance of tax payment. This is aimed at encouraging more people to pay voluntarily, thereby bolstering the municipality's financial stability.
Crackdown on Illegal Constructions Imminent
Expressing concern over the rising number of illegal constructions in the city, CMO Chakravarti issued strict instructions to officials to continuously monitor construction activities in the municipality without proper permits.
He made it clear that any construction found to be underway without a valid permit will face immediate and stringent action against the responsible party, in accordance with municipal rules. CMO Chakravarti underscored that adherence to established building regulations and necessary permits is mandatory during construction.
He further stated that illegal constructions will not receive any form of protection. Ward in-charges have been directed to conduct regular inspections within their respective jurisdictions and immediately report any such cases to the municipal administration.
Initiatives to Improve Basic Amenities
In a brief discussion with journalist Dipeendra Bohre, CMO Virendra Chakravarti stated that providing better basic facilities to the citizens of Bhind city will be his primary focus. He identified the city's sanitation system, supply of pure drinking water, availability of streetlights, and efficient drainage as key priorities.
The CMO noted that regular monitoring is essential for continuous improvement in the city's cleanliness. Immediate corrective measures will be taken in areas where sanitation is found lacking. Similarly, relevant staff have been instructed to diligently fulfill their responsibilities for prompt resolution of drinking water-related complaints and repair of defunct streetlights.
Considering the upcoming monsoon season, significant emphasis has been placed on making the drainage system effective to combat waterlogging issues. Steps will be taken to ensure the cleanliness of drains and the smooth flow of water through drainage paths.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
The new CMO emphasized the critical importance of active citizen participation in efforts to make the city clean and well-organized. He appealed to the residents of Bhind to fully cooperate with the municipal administration in maintaining the city's cleanliness and to dispose of waste only at designated locations.
CMO Chakravarti believes that through the collective and coordinated efforts of the municipal administration and its citizens, the city can be made clean, beautiful, and livable.
Upon assuming office, municipal council employees and local residents extended a warm welcome to the new CMO, Virendra Chakravarti, and conveyed their best wishes for his new responsibilities. Following the CMO's clear directives, the municipal administration now faces significant challenges including the prompt resolution of public issues, increased revenue collection, effective control over illegal constructions, and the enhancement of the city's basic amenities.
