Bhind: Drug Samples Collected, Two Medical Stores Sealed, Action Looms for Two Operators

Raids in Gohad Area Yield Seizures and Store Closures

In the Mau town of the Gohad area in Bhind district, Drug Inspector Dr. Akanksha Garud conducted surprise inspections of several medical stores, leading to actions under the Drugs Act. Following directives from Collector Kirodilal Meena and Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. JS Yadav, six drug samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing.

During the inspection, Gauri Mandakini Medical Store, Navkar Medical Store, Lakshmi Medical Store, Aditya Medical Store, and Anmol Medical Store were examined. However, the operators of Rana Medical Store and Muskan Medical Store fled, closing their shops upon learning of the inspection. Action will be proposed against these two operators as per regulations.

Action Taken for Operation Without Qualified Personnel

At Anmol Medical Store, the proprietor and qualified person, Subhash Kushwah, was found absent. Kedar Kushwah was present at the shop in his stead. Due to this irregularity, the purchase and sale of items at the medical store were immediately halted, and the store was sealed.

The Drug Inspector clarified that a medical store cannot be operated without the presence of a registered pharmacist or a qualified individual. This ensures that only competent personnel are managing the dispensing of medications.

Drug Samples Sent for Quality Testing

The inspection team collected a total of six drug samples from Navkar Medical Store, Gauri Mandakini Medical Store, and Aditya Medical Store. These samples will be sent to the drug laboratory in Bhopal for investigation and testing.

The primary aim is to ensure that the drugs being sold adhere to quality standards and are safe for public consumption. Ensuring the efficacy of pharmaceuticals is paramount for public health.

Increased Scrutiny on Sale of Narcotic Drugs

Dr. Akanksha Garud instructed the medical store operators to maintain proper records for the purchase and sale of drugs suspected for use in narcotics and to present them during inspections. She also provided specific guidelines regarding this matter.

This measure is to prevent the misuse of certain medications that have the potential for addiction or illicit use, thereby protecting vulnerable populations.

Further Actions Planned in Other Tehsils

Drug Inspector Dr. Akanksha Garud stated that these actions are ongoing and similar inspections will be conducted in other tehsils of the district in the coming days. The objective is to provide the public with quality and safe medicines and to ensure strict adherence to the rules of the Drugs Act.

This proactive approach aims to uphold public health by guaranteeing the integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain across the entire district.
