Bhind Commemorates 79th Independence Day with Grand Ceremony

Bhind district enthusiastically celebrated its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, filled with joy and patriotic spirit. The main ceremony at the District Police Lines saw District Collector Kirodi Lal Meena hoist the national flag and review the parade. Superintendent of Police Suraj Verma was also present.

During the event, freedom fighters, democracy soldiers, and families of Kargil martyrs were honored with shawls and coconuts, symbolizing their sacrifices for the nation's freedom. The parade featured an impressive marchpast by contingents from SAF 17th Battalion, District Police Force (male and female), Home Guards, NCC, Scout and Guide troops, Shaurya Dal, and the Police Band, led by Parade Commander Inspector Arvind Singh Sikwar and 2-IC Inspector Nagesh Sharma.

The chief guest interacted with the parade commanders, and colorful balloons were released as a symbol of peace and celebration. A live broadcast of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav's address from the state-level event in Bhopal was displayed on an LED screen, connecting the entire state.

Cultural Performances and Development Showcase by Students

School students showcased their talents with vibrant cultural performances during the Independence Day celebrations. Students from Government Excellence Higher Secondary School No. 1, Government Maharani Laxmi Bai Girls Higher Secondary School, Sandipani Government Higher Secondary School No. 2, Sant Vivekananda School, and Kids Zone School presented programs that highlighted patriotism and Indian culture.

A booklet published by the Public Relations Department, titled 'Madhya Pradesh in a Changing Era: The Development Saga of Bhind District', was distributed. This publication details the significant achievements of the district over the past two and a half years.

Collector Outlines District's Development Journey

In his address, District Collector Kirodi Lal Meena presented a comprehensive overview of the district's development journey. He emphasized that freedom is a divine opportunity for dedicated public service and public welfare, aiming for the upliftment of all sections of society.

"The goal of the government is the upliftment of the entire populace, and I call upon the residents of the district to contribute to its all-round development."

He urged the district's residents to contribute to its comprehensive development.

Infrastructure Development: From Health to Education

The Collector provided detailed information on the progress achieved in infrastructure development across the district. A 50-bed Critical Care Block was established at the District Hospital at a cost of ₹13.52 crore, along with a 100-bed MCH (Maternal and Child Health) unit costing ₹21 crore.

The construction of buildings for 33 sub-health centers has been completed at a cost of ₹21.45 crore, and a 50-bed AYUSH hospital is currently under construction. In the education sector, 23 PM SHRI schools are operational in the district, equipped with air-conditioned smart classrooms, music rooms, and computer training facilities.

State-of-the-art Sandipani schools have been established in Kanawar, Gohad, Ater, and Lahar at a cost of ₹145.59 crore. The Kenara Lift Irrigation and Drinking Water Scheme, expected to be completed by June 2027, will provide irrigation to an additional 15,710 hectares and supply drinking water to 13 villages.

The Simar Stop Dam, which will irrigate 210 hectares, has been successfully completed by June 2026. The Public Works Department has constructed 24 roads spanning 76.63 kilometers at a cost of ₹69.34 crore. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, over 2.21 lakh rural households will receive tap connections by June 2026, with 530 villages declared 'Har Ghar Jal' (Water in Every Home).

Renovation work on Gauri Sarovar is ongoing at a cost of ₹1.05 crore under the Amrit 2.0 scheme, while infrastructure development along the sarovar banks is being undertaken for ₹2.30 crore as part of the Kayakalp 2.0 scheme.

Farmer Welfare and New Employment Opportunities

The district has also made significant strides in the agriculture sector. 3,125 farmers have adopted natural farming on 1,250 hectares of land. Free soil health cards have been distributed to 21,839 farmers, and farmers have received compensation of ₹9.40 crore under the crop insurance scheme.

Milk collection in the district has increased by 31%, and the number of functional cow shelters has risen to 59. 'Farmer IDs' have been created for over 2.47 lakh farmers in the district.

In terms of employment, 1,353 youths secured jobs through 12 employment fairs last year, and an additional 218 youths found employment through two recent 'Yuva Sangam' events. 1,260 youths have benefited from the career guidance scheme. In 2025-26, 260 new MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) units were established, creating direct employment for 964 individuals.

The district has seen the formation of 412 new self-help groups, currently engaging 51,155 rural women.

Social Empowerment and Public Welfare

Significant efforts have been made for the welfare of all sections of society under social empowerment initiatives. Under the Svamitva Scheme, ownership certificates have been distributed to 1,40,373 beneficiaries. Ayushman cards have been created for approximately 6.31 lakh (92.79%) eligible citizens in the district.

2,652 pregnant women have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. In the last 15 months, 3,957 new families have been provided with ration cards. Urban street vendors have received loans totaling ₹9.67 crore, benefiting 4,133 individuals.

A sum of ₹10.18 crore for 509 cases of natural death and ₹1.68 crore for 42 cases of accidental death has been directly transferred to the accounts of registered construction workers' families. Financial assistance of ₹9.53 crore has been disbursed in 762 cases under the Antyeshti and Anugraha Sahayata Yojana (funeral and relief assistance scheme).

To ensure government schemes reach the last person, 48,660 applications were received during public welfare camps, out of which 45,157 were approved and beneficiaries were served.

Award Distribution Concludes the Ceremony

The concluding segment of the ceremony involved the distribution of awards. In the senior category for outstanding parade performance, the District Police Force (Women) secured the first position, followed by the District Police Force (Men) in second, and the SAF 17th Battalion in third.

In the junior category, NCC Senior Girls took first place, NCC Senior Boys second, and the Scout Troop third. For cultural presentations, Sant Vivekananda School was awarded first prize, Kids Zone School second, and Government Maharani Laxmi Bai Girls Higher Secondary School and Sandipani Government Higher Secondary School No. 2 jointly received third place.

Government officials and employees who demonstrated excellent performance were also honored with certificates of appreciation. The prestigious event was attended by the DFO Bhind, CEO Zila Panchayat Bhind, Additional Collectors, Deputy Collectors, district officials from various departments, elected representatives, families of martyrs and democracy soldiers, members of the media, school students, and a large number of citizens.
