Six Arrested After Collectorate Disruption, Later Released on Bail

Farrukhabad | July 23, 2026 - Six people, including Ajay Katiyar, the District President of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Tikait), have been arrested on charges of causing a disturbance by entering the Farrukhabad Collectorate premises, misbehaving with a duty Home Guard, and obstructing government work. All accused were released on bail after medical examination.

The incident occurred when party workers, led by Ajay Katiyar, forcibly entered the Collectorate premises and began protesting. It is alleged that during this time, they misbehaved with the on-duty Home Guard, Shivpujan, and disrupted government operations.

Based on a complaint filed by Home Guard Shivpujan, a case was registered at Kotwali Fatehgarh against Ajay Katiyar and seven other named individuals, along with 50-60 unidentified people, under sections related to obstructing government work, misbehavior, assault, and others.

Six Arrested, Released After Medical Examination

Acting swiftly, the police took six individuals into custody: District President Ajay Katiyar from Mission Compound Fatehgarh, Arvind Shakya from Salempur Bartal (Nawabganj), Abhay Pratap from Nagla Phoolu (Kampil), Shivram from Nagla Jaipur (Jahanganj), Baburam alias Anuj Rajput from Akalganj (Mauderwaja), and Brajesh Kumar from Bhatsa (Kaimganj).

All were taken for medical examination at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The hospital premises were heavily secured, resembling a police cantonment. After the medical examination conducted by Dr. Abhishek Chaturvedi, the police released all the accused from Kotwali Fatehgarh on personal bail bonds.

The Kotwal of Fatehgarh confirmed the release of all accused individuals. The police stated that the investigation in this matter is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on evidence.

Bhartiya Kisan Union District President Alleges Attempt to Intimidate Farmers

Reacting to the arrest and release, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Tikait) District President Ajay Katiyar stated that cases have been falsely filed against the farmers. He alleged that the government is attempting to intimidate farmers using force and that the charges against them are baseless.
