Nationwide Protest March Announced

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide peaceful protest march to be held in New Delhi on September 5, 2026. The organization alleges that the Indian government has failed to fulfill the assurances made to the youth on July 25, 2026, which led to the postponement of nationwide youth movements.

According to the CJP, delays and inadequate actions by the government have compelled the youth to take to the streets once again in a democratic manner. The party's national executive meeting reviewed the progress of the alleged promises made by the government on July 25.

Unfulfilled Promises and Government Inaction

The CJP claims that the central government, along with states ruled by the BJP and NDA, has taken no concrete steps towards fulfilling the trust placed in them by the youth. The organization further alleges that the government is delaying action and evading clear responses by citing technical reasons.

The CJP believes that the youth had withdrawn their nationwide movement after trusting the government's assurances. The protest march will be led by the families of deceased victims of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and those who have allegedly suffered from police brutality.

Route and Leadership of the March

The protest march is scheduled to commence from India Gate and proceed to the New Delhi Police Headquarters. This demonstration aims to highlight issues that the CJP considers unresolved due to the government's inaction.

Judicial Intervention and FIRs

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had on August 18, 2026, sought a list of all First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against students and protesters from the central government. The CJP claims the court could have considered quashing these cases under Article 142.

However, the party alleged that the center has not shown a clear commitment to providing the list of FIRs. On August 18, 2026, the Supreme Court had expressed its intention to quash FIRs against students participating in protests, hinting at the use of powers under Article 142. The court also agreed to form a high-powered committee to investigate issues related to protests and allegations of police excess.

The court had specifically sought a list of FIRs containing only the names of students, stating that such cases would be quashed, while matters involving individuals with serious criminal backgrounds would be considered separately.
