Tractor-Trolley Thieves Apprehended in Bareilly
Bareilly police, in a joint operation with the SOG (Special Operations Group), have successfully dismantled an active tractor-trolley theft gang. Three perpetrators, identified as Mohd. Junaid, Faheem, and Saif alias Dilshad, have been arrested. However, a fourth accomplice, Salman, managed to escape and is currently being sought by the police through extensive raids.
Gang Specialized in Tractor-Trolley Parts
This organized group exclusively targeted tractor-trolleys, dismantling them for their parts, which were then sold off separately. The operation was a success due to the police's swift action and the crucial information provided by informants.
Investigation Triggered by Theft Report
The investigation began after Mohd. Zahid, a resident of Dhaura Tanda, reported his tractor-trolley stolen on the night of September 10. Acting on intelligence from informants, police apprehended the three suspects in the early hours of September 14. They were found at a disused brick kiln near the Jio Petrol Pump on the Nainital Highway, a secluded location chosen for their criminal activities.
Arrests Made at Abandoned Brick Kiln
The arrests were made at an old, defunct brick kiln situated along the Nainital Highway. Police received a tip-off about suspicious individuals present at the location, likely planning to commit a crime. Upon receiving the information, the Bhujpura police and the SOG team immediately cordoned off the area. In the early morning hours, as the thieves were actively engaged in their work, the police conducted a surprise raid, catching all three red-handed. Efforts are underway to locate the escaped accomplice, Salman, with police conducting raids at various suspected hideouts.
Stolen Goods and Tools Recovered
During the arrest, police recovered a stolen Sonalika 60 DI tractor, four cut wheels from a trolley, various tractor parts, an LPG cylinder, an oxygen cylinder, and a gas cutter. Preliminary questioning revealed that the accused intended to cut the stolen trolley into pieces for easier disposal and sale. The gas cutter was instrumental in this process, allowing them to break down the trolley into smaller, manageable segments. The police are now investigating the intended buyers for these stolen parts.
Criminal History of the Accused
According to police reports, the arrested individuals have a significant criminal record. They have previously been implicated in cases of theft, cow slaughter, and violations of the Arms Act. This indicates that the gang's criminal activities were not limited to tractor-trolley theft but extended to other serious offenses as well. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under the relevant sections of the law. All apprehended individuals have been presented in court following legal formalities and are expected to be remanded to judicial custody.
The police are continuing their investigation to identify other members of the gang and uncover any other thefts they may have committed.
