Departmental Action Initiated Over Lapses in Wanted Criminal Apprehension
Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya has ordered strict departmental action against multiple station in-charges and investigators accused of negligence in apprehending wanted criminals. This directive follows preliminary inquiries initiated against officers who demonstrated subpar performance during a recent campaign.
Crime Review Meeting Highlights Performance Gaps
During a crime review meeting held late Tuesday night via Google Meet, a detailed analysis of the special operation conducted on October 4th revealed significant lapses. Specifically, the police found a lack of diligence in arresting wanted criminals in police station areas including Cantt, Kila, Deorania, Aonla, Faridpur, Bithiri Chainpur, and Bhojipura. SSP Arya has consequently ordered preliminary inquiries into the station in-charges and investigators of these areas to scrutinize their operational efficiency.
Emphasis on C-Plan App and Beat Policing Strengthened
To further bolster law and order, SSP Arya emphasized the effective utilization of the C-Plan app. He instructed that beat policing be strengthened and that influential citizens from villages be connected to this app to facilitate prompt information exchange and curb criminal activities.
Warnings Issued for Pending Cases and Inaction
The review also identified that station in-charges of police stations with five or fewer wanted criminals also showed laxity during the operation. Consequently, warnings have been recorded in the personal files of in-charges from several stations, including Sheeshgarh, Shergarh, Shahi, Siroli, Bhamora, Visharatganj, Fatehganj East, Fatehganj West, and Kyoladiya. The SSP has directed all relevant officers to resolve pending cases in a time-bound manner.
Subhashnagar Police Team Honored for Excellence
In a positive development during the review meeting, the Subhashnagar police team was recognized for their outstanding work. The team achieved a significant success by apprehending a wanted accused carrying a reward of ₹25,000 in a murder case. For this commendable accomplishment, SSP Anurag Arya presented a commendation letter to the Subhashnagar police team.
The police administration has made it clear that any future leniency in crime control and the apprehension of criminals will not be tolerated.
