Stolen Scooter Recovered, Suspect Apprehended

In a special campaign against vehicle theft, the police in the Bhojipura police station area of Bareilly have arrested a young man along with a stolen scooter. The arrest took place around 7 AM on September 14, 2026, on Hansa Road, when the police team stopped a suspicious individual based on precise information from an informant.

Upon questioning, the suspect was identified as Ankur Singh, a resident of Si Nagar in the Izazatnagar police station area. A search led to the recovery of a scooter, registration number UP 25 ES 6559. Preliminary investigations revealed that the scooter had been stolen from the Premnagar police station area on September 13, 2026. A case (No. 389/26) has been registered at Premnagar police station under Section 303(2) BNS of the Indian Penal Code.

Criminal History and Previous Cases

During interrogation, Ankur Singh confessed to transporting the stolen scooter for sale. A review of police records indicated that the accused is a habitual offender with prior jail time for theft. He has a total of five criminal cases registered against him across the Izazatnagar, Premnagar, and Bhojipura police stations.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Surveillance

In connection with the current incident, the Bhojipura police have registered a new case (No. 736/26) under Sections 317(4) and 317(5) BNS of the Indian Penal Code. After completing the legal formalities, the accused has been arrested and presented before the court.

Key roles in this arrest were played by Sub-Inspectors Vivek Kumar and Tanvesh Kumar, along with Head Constable Irshad Hussain and Constables Navin Kumar and Paras Jain. Local police stated that they are maintaining surveillance on active vehicle thieves in the area and will continue their campaigns to curb such incidents.
