Main Accused in Eave Dispute Murder Apprehended

The Mirganj police station in Bareilly has successfully apprehended Mahendra alias Mahendra Pal, the primary accused in the murder that occurred following a dispute over an eave in Jam village. The accused had been evading arrest since the incident on May 25, 2026, by continuously changing his location.

Complaint Filed After Assault

The case began when Kuwarpal, a resident of Jam village, filed a complaint at the Mirganj police station. He alleged that individuals forcibly entered his home and assaulted his brothers, Indrapal and Laxman, over an issue concerning an eave. During the altercation, the accused allegedly hurled abuses and issued death threats.

Murder Charge Added Following Investigation

Initially, a case was registered at the Mirganj police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). As the investigation progressed, Section 103 (1) of BNS, pertaining to murder, was added to the charges.

Elusive Accused Nabbed Through Informant Tip

Under the leadership of Station House Officer Ravi Kumar, a police team was conducting a search and checking operation in the area on September 26. Crucial information about the whereabouts of accused Mahendra Pal was received from an informant. Acting on this tip, police cordoned off the area near the Kulcha petrol pump, close to the Mirganj flyover.

Arrest Made Near Flyover

At approximately 9:10 AM, the police successfully arrested Mahendra alias Mahendra Pal. The 28-year-old accused confessed to his involvement during questioning, admitting that he had picked up a 'bisoli' (a type of tool) for self-defense during the assault on June 25, 2026. He stated that Laxman Swaroop was injured and fell during the incident, after which he fled the scene out of fear and remained at large until his arrest.

Legal Proceedings Underway

The police have registered a case against the accused under all relevant sections related to murder and assault. He has been presented before the court for further legal proceedings. Sub-Inspector Pankaj Kumar, along with Constables Nitin Nagar and Bobby Singh, played a significant role in this operation.
