The district's distinctive Moonj handicraft art and special culinary offerings are being showcased internationally, captivating visitors.
Moonj Handicrafts Gain International Exposure
In Hall Number Ten of the trade show, Balrampur's stall is specially decorated, featuring Moonj handicrafts such as dalia (baskets), bags, and small decorative baskets, all created by rural women. This exhibition represents a significant step towards providing a larger market for the craftsmanship of these rural women.
'One District, One Dish' Initiative Showcased
Under the Uttar Pradesh government's 'One District, One Dish' scheme, Balrampur's traditional delicacies are also prominently featured at the trade show. Delicious items like Kalakand and coconut barfi prepared by Ram Mishthan Bhandar, alongside local chaat, are being displayed. These dishes are being presented to potential buyers from both domestic and international markets, thereby giving recognition to local food products.
New Platform for Local Entrepreneurs
The industry department has focused on the branding and packaging of these products to ensure they establish a distinct identity in national and international markets. Deputy Industry Commissioner Ravi Kumar Sharma stated that this event is a golden opportunity for local entrepreneurs and artisans. It will not only provide new recognition to the products but also pave the way for them to connect with national and global markets.
