On Sunday, August 16, 2026, the eighth death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was commemorated in Balrampur with a memorial service. Attendees offered heartfelt tributes, remembering his political and social life.
Those present shared fond memories of his special attachment to Balrampur, describing him as the 'Ajatashatru of Politics' (one who has no enemies). The main guest at the event, held at Arpan Marriage Hall in Dharampur Bhagwati Ganj, was Gonda MLA Prateek Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Distinguished Guests and Public Figures Attend
Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Acharya Devraj Das Maharaj, Social Media Influencer Mayank Kushwaha, and BJP District Convenor Rahul Raj Rastogi. A large number of public representatives, BJP officials, and social workers also participated.

"Atal Bihari Vajpayee's connection with Balrampur is still alive in people's hearts today," stated Prateek Bhushan Sharan Singh. He reminded the gathering that Vajpayee first entered Parliament after winning the election from the Balrampur Lok Sabha constituency in 1957. The trust and affection Balrampur's people showed him in that election, he cherished throughout his life.
The BJP District Convenor highlighted the former Prime Minister's powerful oratory, simple personality, commitment to democratic values, and spirit of service to the nation as enduring inspirations for society.

Further elaborating on this relationship, former MP Daddan Mishra remarked, "Vajpayee Ji's relationship with Balrampur was not just political; he shared an affectionate bond with the people here, which is still remembered with reverence today."
Organizers Honor Attendees and Families
Anjali Mishra, the event organizer and granddaughter of former Prime Minister Atal Ji, honored the attendees by presenting them with angavastrams (shawls) and portraits of Vajpayee. The families of individuals closely associated with Atal Ji were also specially honored during the memorial service.
Additionally, hundreds of women received sarees and lunch packets on this occasion.
