Balrampur: Smuggler Arrested with 520 Grams of Ganja; Action Against Drug Trafficking

Police Apprehend Suspect Following Tip-off

Balrampur district's Kotwali Dehat police station has launched a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, leading to the arrest of a smuggler. Acting on confidential information about an individual standing with a consignment of cannabis under suspicious circumstances on the Gangapur Lakhna road, police teams swiftly intervened.

Suspect Identified, Contraband Seized

During the ensuing search, the arrested smuggler was identified as Deepak Gupta alias Kisan Gupta, a resident of village Khargupur in Gonda district. Police recovered 0.520 kilograms of illegal cannabis from his possession. Additionally, the Apache motorcycle, bearing registration number UP 43 AS 2508, which was reportedly used for smuggling, was also confiscated by the police.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

In connection with this seizure and arrest, a case has been registered at the Kotwali Dehat police station under FIR No. 379/2026, pertaining to Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. This action is part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat the illegal trade of narcotics.

Operation Conducted Under Senior Supervision

The entire operation was conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police Martand Prakash Singh, with supervision from Additional Superintendent of Police Vishal Pandey and Circle Officer Nagar Abhishek Singh. The police team involved in this successful operation included Station House Officer Girijesh Tiwari, Constable Ajit Singh, and Constable Abhishek Singh.

Accused Presented in Court, Commitment to Continue Action

Following the completion of legal procedures, the police have dispatched accused Deepak Gupta to appear before the court for further proceedings. The police have reiterated their commitment to continuing stringent action against drug smugglers within the district.
