Balrampur: Man Arrested for Selling Same Land Three Times, Defrauding Rs 2.81 Lakh

Sensational Case Unfolds in Maharajganj Teria Police Station Area

A sensational case has emerged in the Maharajganj Teria police station area of Balrampur, where a man, driven by greed, allegedly sold the same agricultural land three times, committing fraud to the tune of approximately ₹2.81 lakh. The shrewd accused was arrested by the police on Thursday and confessed to his crime during interrogation.

Accused Apprehended by Police Team

Acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar and under the leadership of Station House Officer Santosh Kumar Tiwari, a police team, based on information from an informant, arrested the accused, Teerath Ram, son of Dayaram, near Kauwapur Mod on Wednesday. The accused is alleged to have executed sale deeds for land already sold, extorting lakhs of rupees from two different individuals.

Fraudulent Land Dealings Revealed

The deception came to light when Shahjahan, a resident of Gram Dundara, filed a complaint at the Maharajganj Teria police station. He alleged that Teerath Ram presented a 0.1300-hectare agricultural plot in survey number 646 as his share and executed a sale deed in his name on March 28, 2025, receiving ₹2,01,230 for it. Shahjahan claimed the land had already been sold, and the accused kept putting him off when he demanded his money back.

Legal Action Initiated and Accused Confesses

Based on this complaint, the police registered a case and commenced investigation. Evidence gathered during the inquiry led to serious charges of forgery, fraud, and criminal conspiracy being filed against the accused. During police interrogation, Teerath Ram admitted that he re-registered land already sold due to financial temptation. He confessed to receiving ₹2,01,230 from Shahjahan on March 28, 2025. Subsequently, on April 4, 2025, he executed another sale deed for a portion of the same land to Ajay Singh, collecting ₹80,000. In this manner, by selling the same land three times, he committed fraud amounting to approximately ₹2.81 lakh.

Investigation Continues

The arresting team included Sub-Inspector Nageshwar Nath Patel and Constable Neeraj Kumar from the Maharajganj Teria police station. The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken as per regulations if additional facts emerge during the probe.
