Protest Against Online Land Mutation Continues

The protest by lawyers in the Utraula tehsil of Balrampur district against the new online system for land mutation and registration has entered its second day. As part of the demonstration, 40 lawyers observed a sequential hunger strike, reiterating their demands.

This ongoing agitation has led to a complete halt of judicial work in the civil and tehsil courts. Consequently, the hearing of approximately 685 cases has been affected, causing significant inconvenience to litigants.

Impact on Judicial and Registration Services

The disruption in judicial functioning is causing considerable hardship for citizens involved in legal proceedings. The situation at the local registry office is also critical, with no document registrations taking place for the past seventeen days. This has severely impacted individuals engaged in property transactions.

Lawyers' Demands and Actions

Advocate Association President Prahlad Yadav and General Secretary Ravi Shankar Mishra have clearly stated that their primary demand is the immediate abolition of the online land mutation process and the reinstatement of the old system. They remain firm on this demand.

To intensify their protest, lawyers organized a large motorcycle rally from the tehsil premises. The rally traversed various routes through the main market before concluding back at the tehsil compound. During the rally, lawyers chanted slogans against the government and accused the administration of obstinacy.

Lawyers' Reaction to the New System

There is strong discontent among lawyers regarding the new online procedure. Former President Devendra Kumar has termed the new system a "black law." Another former president, Akhilesh Singh, stated that no new rule can be forcibly imposed on the public. He warned that the lawyers' movement would continue indefinitely until the government addresses their demands.

A significant number of lawyers, including Md. Khalil Khan, Devendra Kumar, Ram Chandra Jaiswal, Siya Ram Mishra, Alauddin Khan, O. P. Singh, Shweta Singh, and Shamshad, were present at the hunger strike site. Senior lawyers such as Nasim Ahmed, Arvind Srivastava, Satish Verma, D. N. Singh, R. K. Pandey, and Izharul Hasan also participated in the demonstration.

There is now an expectation that the government will find a concrete solution to this entire issue, thereby preventing further damage to the general public and the legal process.
