Balrampur Hosts Divisional Handball Championship; Winners to Shine in Varanasi

Divisional Handball Championship Concludes in Balrampur

The divisional-level handball competition was successfully organized at the local Sports Stadium in Balrampur on Thursday. The event, held under the joint auspices of the Secondary Education Department and the Sports Authority of India (SGFI), was overseen by District Inspector of Schools Mridula Anand. A.G. Hashmi Inter College, Sahadullanagar, played a key role in coordinating the event.

Teams Showcase Talent Across Districts

Teams from three districts - Gonda, Shravasti, and Balrampur - competed in this divisional-level tournament. In the Under-14 age category, the team from Shravasti emerged victorious in both boys' and girls' categories. In the Under-17 boys' category, Gonda clinched the title, while no team participated in the girls' category for this age group.

Balrampur Dominates Under-19 Category

In the competition's senior-most category, Under-19, the Balrampur district established its dominance, securing victories in both boys' and girls' categories. The District Sports Officer and District Youth Officer of Balrampur were present to encourage the players, interacting with them and motivating them for future endeavors.

Fostering Sportsmanship and Future Aspirations

This occasion was not just a showcase of on-field competition but also served to foster a passion for sports among the youth. At the conclusion of the event, Principal Rajendra Kumar Srivastava of the school honored the winning teams' players with shields and certificates, commending their performance and offering best wishes for their future.

Also present were Physical Education teachers Manish from Gonda, Ravi Kumar from Shravasti, and from Balrampur, Mohd. Suhail, Pankaj Pandey, Arpan Pandey, Sayeed Ahmed, Madan Lal, Naveen Pal, Umesh Tiwari, Rashmi Singh, along with members of the District Sports Committee. All these dignitaries played a significant role in the event's organization and lauded the players' efforts.

Road to State Level Competition in Varanasi

Expressing satisfaction over the successful organization of the competition, Mohd. Suhail, District Secretary of Balrampur, announced that the winning teams from this divisional competition will now represent their district at the state-level competition. This upcoming tournament is scheduled to be held in Varanasi from August 21 to August 25.

Participating in this state-level event, these young athletes will compete against teams from various parts of the state, striving to bring honor to their district.
