Balrampur: Cobbler community workers to receive free, modern shops

Initiative to Improve Livelihoods of Cobbler Community

An important initiative has been undertaken in Balrampur city to improve the living standards of workers from the cobbler community who practice their traditional trade in difficult conditions, outdoors along the roadside. Municipal Council President Dr. Dhirendra Pratap Singh ‘Dhiru’ invited approximately 30 cobbler workers, operating from various locations in the city, to the Municipal Auditorium for a dialogue.

The primary objective of this meeting was to understand their problems, needs, and expectations, and to take concrete steps towards their resolution. The workers presented issues related to the difficulties faced during their livelihood and the lack of basic facilities. Working in the open exposes them to heat, rain, and other adverse weather conditions, which impact their health and hinder their business.

Provision of Modern and Equipped Shops

Taking these problems seriously, the Municipal President has decided to provide all identified workers with free, modern, and well-equipped shops. These shops will include amenities such as proper seating arrangements, fans, electricity, and other essential modern kits, enabling them to work in a dignified environment.

The foremost goal of this initiative is to free hardworking laborers from the compulsion of working under the open sky. By providing a better and safer workspace, workers will be encouraged towards self-reliance, allowing them to better support their families. This step not only honors labor and skill but also represents significant progress in providing better facilities to the needy sections of society.

Focus on Dignity and Self-Reliance

This will assist the workers of the cobbler community in developing their traditional trade and earning a respectable livelihood, contributing to their socio-economic upliftment. The initiative aims to promote self-reliance and dignity for these skilled workers.

Road Construction Prioritized

Alongside facilities for the workers, the municipality has also prioritized an important road construction project of public interest. During the meeting, a significant decision was made regarding the construction of the road leading from the temple of Param Pujya Sant Shiromani Shri Ravidas Ji to Deepwa Bagh. Construction of this public welfare road will commence shortly, with the goal of completing it by Diwali if at all possible.

The current condition of this route is inconvenient for travel, and its construction will greatly facilitate movement for the citizens, devotees, and local residents of the area. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the local people regarding the construction of this long-awaited road.

Ensuring Benefits of Welfare Schemes Reach Eligible Families

It was also ensured during the meeting that the benefits of various government welfare schemes reach all eligible families. Families who have not yet received benefits from schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, pension, or other important government programs have been urged to complete and submit the necessary forms. All possible support will be provided to connect such families with the schemes based on their eligibility.

Emphasis was placed on ensuring that government scheme benefits reach needy and eligible individuals as the utmost priority, so that no eligible person is deprived of benefits due to lack of information or procedural hurdles. Attendees at the meeting included Executive Officer Lal Chand Maurya, District Vice President Sanjay Shukla, Gaurav Mishra, Vidya Sagar Gautam, Ram Sagar, Bajrangi Kumar, Santuji, and other dignitaries and members of the worker community.

This initiative by Municipal President Dr. Dhirendra Pratap Singh ‘Dhiru’ is being viewed as a commendable step promoting labor, dignity, and self-reliance, which will aid in the upliftment of the deprived and hardworking sections of society.
