A significant incident was averted at the renowned pilgrimage site of Dandraua Dham in Bhind district on Friday, when a part of the Sanskrit school building unexpectedly collapsed. The event occurred during the temple's evening aarti, causing panic among the devotees present.
Fortunately, no devotees sustained any injuries in the accident, and all remained safe. According to eyewitnesses, it was time for the evening aarti at the temple when a balcony attached to the Sanskrit school suddenly broke and fell. During the incident, a person named Prashant Katare was descending the stairs from his room. He narrowly escaped unharmed as the balcony collapsed just as he reached the lower level.
This unforeseen event created a brief period of chaos within the temple premises, but the administration and devotees breathed a sigh of relief due to the absence of any casualties.
Chaos Ensues as Balcony Falls During Aarti
The Dandraua Dham temple complex was thrown into a state of commotion on Thursday evening when a portion of the Sanskrit school suddenly caved in. This incident occurred precisely during the temple's daily aarti, when a large number of devotees were present for darshan and prayers.
According to eyewitnesses, the sound of the balcony's collapse was so loud that initially, people were bewildered about what had happened. During this unfortunate event, a man identified as Prashant Katare was descending the stairs of the school. Just as he reached the bottom, the balcony above him crumbled and fell. By the grace of God, he narrowly escaped any injuries.
News of his safe escape brought some relief to those present, but the sight of the debris from the fallen balcony caused concern among everyone. The administration's swift response and ongoing investigation have been initiated.
Administrative Machinery Active, Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information about the incident, local authorities took prompt action. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Mehgaon, Navneet Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDOP) Sanjay Kochha, and Mehgaon Station House Officer Ravindra Sharma, along with a police team, immediately reached Dandraua Dham.
Officials conducted a thorough inspection of the scene to assess the current situation. They examined the debris from the fallen balcony to ensure no one was trapped underneath. The administration is taking necessary further actions, considering the seriousness of the matter.
A structural integrity check of the collapsed balcony will be conducted to determine the exact causes of the collapse. In light of this incident at the temple complex, special vigilance is being maintained regarding safety arrangements to prevent similar accidents in the future. Orders for inspection of other old structures may also be issued.
Currently, the situation at the temple complex remains entirely normal, and the schedule for devotee darshan continues as before. However, that particular section of the complex has been temporarily closed for safety reasons.
