The Cliff News | Farrukhabad | August 19, 2026 The Uttar Pradesh State Local Rural Body Dedicated Backward Class Commission held a significant meeting with district administration officials in Farrukhabad on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by the commission's chairman and former Justice Ram Autar Singh.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to gather and study information related to various aspects of backward class reservation and their representation in local rural bodies, particularly Gram Panchayats. The meeting was attended by commission members including retired DG Brajesh Kumar, retired ADJ Santosh Kumar Vishwakarma, retired IAS Dr. Arvind Kumar Chaurasia, and retired IAS S.P. Singh. Additionally, District Panchayat Administrator Monica Yadav was also present. Officials presented necessary records and information pertaining to the district to the commission.
Studying the Status of Backward Class Reservation
Commission Chairman Ram Autar Singh obtained information from officials regarding the current status of backward class representation in local rural bodies, reservation provisions, and compliance with government directives. He instructed officials to ensure that all records and information submitted to the commission are factual, clear, and up-to-date.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the commission is conducting a detailed study of the representation and social status of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in rural local bodies. Based on this study, the commission will prepare necessary recommendations concerning the reservation system in Panchayat elections. Suggestions are being formulated regarding the framework of backward class reservation in rural bodies after a thorough analysis of available data and social conditions.
Commission's Objectives and Future Plans
Former Justice Ram Autar Singh clarified that the commission's main objective is to conduct an in-depth study of issues related to the interests and adequate representation of backward classes in local rural bodies and provide necessary suggestions and recommendations to the government. The effort is to ensure that the benefits of reservation reach eligible individuals and their representation in local bodies remains smooth.
Also present at the meeting were Chief Development Officer Vinod Kumar Gaur, Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue Arun Kumar Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar, District Development Officer Shyam Kumar Tiwari, and District Panchayat Raj Officer Avinash Chandra, among other relevant officials. All assured the commission of information and cooperation from their respective departments.
