She passed away on Sunday due to multi-organ failure, as confirmed by Doctor Prateet Samdani. Maharashtra's Culture Minister Ashish Shelar announced the news outside the hospital.

Hospitalization and Final Rites

Asha Bhosle's granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, confirmed her hospitalization earlier. She cited "extreme exhaustion and a chest infection" as the reason.

Her last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Monday at 4:00 pm. Anand Bhosle, her son, shared details about paying final respects at her residence at 11 AM on Monday.

Asha Bhosle: A Career in Retrospect

Asha Bhosle began her career in 1943 with the Marathi film song 'Chala Chala Nav Bala'. She sang hits like 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja', 'Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge', 'Rangeela Re' and 'Sharara Sharara'.

She won two National Film Awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

 

"Humari saans nahin hoti hai toh aadmi mar jata hai. Mere liye music meri saans hai," she said.
