Tech giant Apple has set a new benchmark in the smartphone market by introducing its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, on September 9, 2026. The company described it as the most significant design change in iPhone history.

This new device unfolds like a book, offering a large 7.6-inch inner display, while providing a 5.4-inch outer screen experience when closed. The iPhone Duo marks Apple's significant entry into the foldable smartphone segment, a market where companies like Samsung have already established a presence.

Revolutionary Design and User Experience

The iPhone Duo's expansive foldable display, enhanced multitasking capabilities, Apple Pencil support, and the new iOS 27 experience distinctly set it apart from Apple's current iPhone models.

New A20 Pro Chip and Optimized iOS 27

The iPhone Duo features the all-new A20 Pro chip, developed using 2nm technology. Advanced technologies like a vapor-chamber system and dual-battery architecture are incorporated for improved performance and thermal management.

The phone runs a specially crafted version of iOS 27, meticulously optimized for the foldable screen and multitasking, ensuring users a seamless and efficient experience.

Advanced Camera and Security Features

On the camera front, the iPhone Duo boasts a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system. Its foldable design enables numerous new and creative ways to capture photos and videos.

Pre-orders for the device will commence on October 16, 2026, in over 70 countries worldwide, including India. Sales are scheduled to begin on October 23, 2026.
