Actress Anupama Parameswaran, known for her recent performances in Bison and The Pet Detective, has opened up about a disturbing experience of online harassment. The actress revealed on Instagram that she had been the target of false accusations, morphed photos, and malicious posts shared through multiple fake accounts.

Initially, Anupama dismissed the activity as typical internet trolling. However, when the harassment intensified and became more personal, she decided to take action. She filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Cyber Crime Branch, which promptly investigated the matter.

The authorities soon traced the activity to a 20-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu, who had reportedly created several fake Instagram profiles specifically to target the actress.

Despite the seriousness of the offense, Anupama chose to withhold the culprit’s identity out of compassion, citing the young woman’s age. “I didn’t want to jeopardize her future,” she said, emphasizing that while the case would proceed legally, she preferred not to expose the individual publicly. Her calm, dignified response has earned widespread praise from fans and colleagues in the film industry.

In her statement, Anupama also highlighted the importance of responsible social media use, reminding followers that online anonymity does not grant immunity from accountability. “Social media doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want. Every action can be traced. We must use it responsibly,” she urged.
