Anti-Drug Awareness Program Organised at Madhav College, Gwalior

The Cliff News | Gwalior | September 19, 2026 A special awareness program was successfully organized at Madhav College, Gwalior, by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit under the 'Drug-Free Youth Resolve for a Developed India' campaign. The primary objective of this event, conducted as per the directives of the Regional Directorate Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, was to alert youth about the severe health risks associated with drug abuse and inspire them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The program commenced with prayers to Mother Saraswati and a collective rendition of 'Vande Mataram'. The chief guest, Dr. Vinod Mudgal, addressed the students, stating that the consumption of tobacco and other narcotic substances is extremely harmful to the body. He clarified that drug use leads to fatal diseases like cancer, while excessive alcohol consumption severely damages the liver.

Dr. Mudgal emphasized that addiction not only endangers an individual's health but also plunges their entire family into serious crisis. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and spread positivity in society.

Role of Youth and Importance of a Healthy Life

In his presidential address, the college Principal, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, highlighted the significant role of youth in social transformation. He stated that for the realization of the 'Developed India' vision, it is crucial for the youth to be healthy and aware. Dr. Sharma presented the youth as the primary catalysts for bringing positive change in society and elaborated on their responsibilities.

During the program, Dr. Deepak Shinde administered the anti-drug pledge to all NSS volunteers. Through this oath, the volunteers pledged to abstain from drugs themselves and work towards freeing society from this menace. The program was efficiently managed by the National Service Scheme Programme Officer, Dr. Sarita Dixit, while Lieutenant Mulayam Singh expressed gratitude to the guests and participants.

Artistic Presentation for Awareness

The students also staged plays during the event, illustrating the importance of staying drug-free. These plays effectively showcased the detrimental effects of substance abuse and the benefits of abstaining from it, aiming to spread awareness among the assembled audience. A large number of students from the National Service Scheme and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) were present at this initiative. This effort proved to be a significant and effective step towards awakening a new consciousness regarding health among the youth.
